As a Kent County Commissioner, I represent the constituents of District 19 and work to ensure that county services and initiatives are meeting the needs of our community. My role involves collaborating with local governments, community organizations, and residents to address key issues such as early childhood education, economic development, environmental sustainability, and social equity.Key Responsibilities:Advocating for Policy: Spearhead efforts in addressing county-wide policy issues, including budgeting, economic growth, early childhood education, affordable and attainable housing, and public infrastructure improvements.Community Engagement: Engage with residents and stakeholders to understand and advocate for their needs, ensuring that county decisions reflect the voice of the community.Budget Oversight: Play an integral role in reviewing and approving the county’s annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility while prioritizing investments in critical areas such as public health, education, and infrastructure.Collaboration & Leadership: Work with fellow commissioners and county departments to create long-term strategies and initiatives that drive meaningful change in the county.Environmental Advocacy: Champion policies that protect natural resources and promote sustainability, including efforts to reduce the county’s carbon footprint, invest in green technologies, reduce landfilling, and ensure clean and healthy environments.I sit on the Legislative and Human Resources Subcommittee and the Board of Public Works. I have the honor to serve on the Early Childhood and Mobility Task Forces, and I also serve as the board liaison on the GVMC Policy Subcommittee.
