WORK HISTORY
Senior Manager, Philanthropy @The Walrus
Toronto, ON, CA
I\'m responsible for planning and executing a major gifts strategy with respect to individuals, foundations, corporate philanthropy, grant-making, and fundraising events (primarily regarding event sponsorship). This includes both optimizing existing and identifying new opportunities to connect philanthropy with journalism, raising new revenue and fostering long-term relationships with funders, with an emphasis on bringing in revenue at the five-figure and six-figure levels and helping manage other development programming (Annual Giving, Donor Relations). Additionally, I identify and pursue opportunities to connect philanthropy programming to content and other revenue streams.I also cultivate relationship-building opportunities for the full spectrum of Walrus events, cultivating national funding partnerships in line with our national platform. When appropriate, I also incorporate a government-relations focus in how we approach funders and potential influencers.Additionally, I was also Interim Director of Development from September through November in 2025, leading the department to achieve its Q4 campaign goals and fiscal targets.
