About John Krasting

With nearly 20 years of private sector, public, and government experience, John is a proven climate scientist working on building state-of-the-art models for studying past and future climate change. John has a B.S. in Meteorology and a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, both from Rutgers University. John\'s expertise is in core model development as well as big data analysis of climate model output. He is experienced in building and launching automation tools and employing process management techniques to rapidly evaluate and monitor climate model simulations. John is committed to increasing the information content of model diagnostics with a particular focus on efficency. He has demonstrated an ability to build both domestic and international collaborations in this area. In addition to model development, John maintains active research foci on the interaction between the carbon cycle and the physical climate, and topics include climate sensitivity to increasing carbon emissions, oceanic carbon uptake, land use, as well as sea level rise. His research focuses on broad topics while using statistical and ensemble-based approaches to demonstrate his ideas. His work has been published in top peer-review journals, including Nature Geoscience, Geophysical Research Letters, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Journal of Climate. John has experience and enjoys working as a project team lead for both research and model analysis activities.
