About Evan Kotsovinos

I am focused on privacy, safety, and security at Google. Previously, I served as Head of Global Infrastructure at American Express and Asia CIO at Morgan Stanley. I have worked in tech, financial services, R&D, academia, and startups. I hold a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge and a Masters in Finance from London Business School. I lead by building world-class, effective, efficient, and engaged teams that love to solve challenging problems and make an impact. Key elements of my leadership approach are bringing together the best talent, instilling a sense of purpose and direction, empowering and supporting, being transparent and inclusive, and holding myself and others accountable. I have learned how to flex, adapt, and lead teams of different shapes and sizes - including large regional and global organizations of up to people. I have also learned how to lead in a number of different cultural and business environments, having lived and worked in seven countries across three continents. My background and expertise is primarily in technology, and secondarily in finance. While I run a large organization, I am highly technical. I built one of the first cloud computing prototypes, and I am the author of four patents and several peer-reviewed publications, which have been cited more than 1600 times.
