Oversee Marketing, Communications, Digital Media & Online Programs, Visitor Services and Museum Store for one of the top ten small museums in the country (according to CNN, Fodor’s and Travel + Leisure). Working to raise the visibility of a new art museum through advertising, press and audience engagement opportunities that have made the Museum a key player in the regional scene. Efforts have created awareness, as well as move the financial responsibility out of the hands of a few primary donors to a sense of ownership by the broader community. Serve in a leadership capacity and help create a culture that embraces change and innovative ideas; changed office culture to maximize efficiencies; help the leadership team clarify goals and expectations; use mediation and diplomacy skills to effectively handle the needs of a wide-range of constituents including board members, staff, volunteers, artists, members and guests. Examples- Refined the entrance procedure—challenging historical knowledge about the guest experience to a procedure that captures visitor contact information and doubled guest donations while mitigating the established expectations of front desk volunteers without changing BIMA’s image as a warm and inclusive museum- Developed strategies for community engagement like the Within/Earshot Jazz Festival, which leveraged partnerships with well-respected Seattle cultural institutions to bring high-caliber musical artists to an unserved population, and introduced a new model for cultural programming as well as cementing a new revenue stream for the museum.Other responsibilities include leading the organization through a complete website redesign and creating and implementing a cohesive brand identity. Develop, execute and prioritize the advertising plan, leveraging strong media partnerships for great pricing and coverage. Recent efforts include diversifying the Museum’s storytelling platforms to include video and press opportunites.
