About Kornel Bicskei
Principal Engineer | Cloud Infrastructure | Network Automation | Executive AdvisoryWith 16+ years of progressive experience across cloud solutions architecture, distributed systems, and network software engineering, I bridge deep technical execution with strategic direction. My career accelerated at Amazon Web Services, where I developed mission-critical network systems for it\'s global footprint. I was later relocated to California as a Senior Solutions Architect advising AWS\'s most strategic customers (Slack, Salesforce) on Kubernetes, serverless, and enterprise cloud architecture. I led technical strategies that scaled to millions of users and closed the largest commercial contracts in AWS history - twice. Now, I\'m back in engineering—leading cloud substrate and automation development at a stealth startup, building scalable platforms for AI-driven networks using technologies like Temporal, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Containerlabs, Clabernetes on Kubernetes.
Experience
Principal Network Software Engineer
Sep 2023 — Present · Miami, FL, US
Building a state-of-the-art AI Neocloud with top talent hired from FAANG. Technical lead in the 43-person Network Systems Eng Org, where we built a software defined network that rivals hyperscalers. End-to-end modelled and automated network lifecycle, from design to production | GraphQL Developed a Custom Workflow Framework (using Python Temporal SDK) that network engineers use to define the business logic allowed to mutate the state of the network. Release pipelines intake human-friendly, reusable building blocks that get transformed into vendor-specific configs and applied automatically and safely onto the network.| Arista SDK, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Okta integration Implemented a Network Simulation Lab to perform invariant testing of the main artifacts that make up our network (configs, blueprints, models). Created a node hydration mechanism that reduced bootup from ~5min to <1min. Ephemeral labs spin up per PR, generated configs are deployed onto virtual network devices and tested for invariants in our continuous integration pipelines | Kubernetes, Karpenter, Clabernetes (Golang), Containerlab, Helm, ArgoCD, Terraform Wrote Gitlab modules that standardize the way we build, lint, unit test, integration test and release software that increased our deployment velocity by 250%. Partnered with Security on migrating to hardened container images for the Org Leading weekly Ops and RCA reviews where we go through Grafana dashboards, key SLIs/SLOs and RCA documents to reduce on-call events and customer impacting incidents | PagerDuty
