ABOUT KOREA MCKIE

Greetings, I am Korea Mckie, a Senior Criminal Justice scholar at the illustrious Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. I am passionate about law, advocacy, and social justice, with a strong commitment to serving underrepresented communities. I\'ve gained valuable insights from my experiences. In the Summer of 2024, I interned at the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office in New York City, where I honed my critical thinking and analytical skills by assisting attorneys in trial preparation, organizing and reviewing case files, and ensuring the efficient processing of cases. Currently, I am a 20••••25 fellow with the New World Foundation, working alongside the Florida Immigrant Coalition. In this role, I collaborate with community-based organizations to develop civic engagement strategies aligned with labor movement goals while contributing to legislative efforts focused on immigrant rights and worker protections. These experiences, combined with my passion for law, have strengthened my communication, problem-solving, and advocacy skills. Upon graduating in Spring 2026, I plan to attend law school to pursue a career as a juvenile justice attorney, where I can make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people and the criminal justice system.
