About Kofi Owusu-Boakye
Kofi Owusu-Boakye is an international development professional with expertise in economics, development finance and private sector engagement. His international experience spans more than 30 nations in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Currently, he\'s the private sector advisor to the US Agency for International Development\'s Asia Bureau, based in Washington, DC. He advises the Bureau and USAID field offices in Asia on private sector partnerships, with special emphasis on mobilizing private capital to support the Agency\'s development objectives. He also serves as the lead economic engagement officer in Washington for the US Mission to the Association of Asean Nations (USASEAN).Prior to that, he was the Lead East Africa Investment Officer for USAID\'s Development Credit Authority (DCA), where he designed and structured loan guarantee partnerships valued at over $200 million in support of USAID priority sectors. Mr. Owusu-Boakye has been with USAID since 2005 and has contributed towards several initiatives, including the recent $25 million landmark USAID Bureau for Food Security private sector partnership with Root Capital to stand up a new Food Security and Innovation investment portfolio. He has also overseen the executing of private sector partnerships in the solar and health equipment financing sectors, helping to expand access to renewable solar energy technologies and advanced medical technologies.Mr. Owusu-Boakye has provided technical support to USAID Missions on program design, country strategies, and private sector engagement strategies. His contributions to strengthening the capacity of local country systems and institutions in the area of credit guarantees was recognized by the Development Bank of Jamaica, where he provided technical consultancy on the creation of a local guarantee Company in Jamaica. He has likewise structured partnerships with the Swedish Development Agency (SIDA) and the African Development Bank in joint guarantee commitments.
