Monitor patients’ physical and mental health and keep accurate records.• Supervise patients to ensure their safety through verbal de-escalation and performing risk assessments.• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.• Respond to calls from patients who are in crisis using verbal de-escalation, talk them out of their intended self-harm or suicide, refer them to the nurse in charge if necessary and record same in the NHS care notes.
