Varjo makes the highest-immersion virtual and mixed reality products and services for advanced VR users. Our retinal resolution headsets are used to train astronauts, pilots, and nuclear power plant operators, design cars, and to conduct pioneering research.Teleport enables anybody with a smartphone to create photorealistic 3d environments where they can collaborate, host events, train employees and more. Using 3d reconstruction, machine learning and cloud GPUs, our service is accessible to all without special training.As Teleport is a \"startup within a startup\", in my role as the leader of Teleport I drive multiple functions in addition to engineering. My role is to define the strategy for the product, engineering, design and go-to-market. I actively participate in user interviews and seek insights from our growing customer base, which is then translated into a roadmap for our 12 people strong team. I directly manage the team’s engineering managers.I collaborate closely with our CPO & CEO to define the company’s overall strategy. Varjo is shifting its business strategy from hardware-first to services-driven approach and Teleport plays a pivotal role in this transformation.In the wider engineering organisation (outside of my direct team) my role is to “raise the bar”. Using my unique perspective and background in building large-scale services, I contribute to software architecture, process design and engineering culture. To succeed in leading through influence I adapt to each unique situation, either acting as a coach, a helpful peer or an independent person who can give an honest and unbiased view.
