ABOUT KAYLA MURKISON

My name is Kayla Murkison and I’m a UX Researcher with an MS in Data Analytics from Southern New Hampshire University. I gained my UX knowledge through General Assembly\'s UX Design Immersive Boot Camp in 20••••22. I later spent some time as a UX research contractor with an amazing start up called Kinkofa ( a Black Genealogy Platform who\'s focus is on helping individuals of the African diaspora research their family history and build community with others doing the same). Shortly after, I became an intern with Cisco as a UX Researcher and recently was hired to a full time role with the company!I was drawn to UX because I enjoy helping people make their voices heard as much as I love the creative process. As an individual who’s intersectionality is very closely aligned with those in marginalized communities, it is natural for me to want to empathize and be inclusive of all users. My goal is to create space for individuals like myself (with less traditional backgrounds) within the tech industry.More: I have been a freelance photographer since 2014 and am passionate about the work I do. My mission is to empower and inspire through photos. I enjoy sharing in the creative process with my clients in order to bring a vision to life. I do this while also maintaining awareness of the client\'s comfort level in front of the camera. At a base level, I feel that it\'s important to build relationships on a foundation of trust and mutual understanding. ​
