The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Every eight minutes, the American Red Cross responds to a disaster in the U.S. – the vast majority of which are home fires. The Red Cross of Georgia assisted over individuals affected by home fires last year in our state last year. Additionally, the Red Cross provides 40% of the nation\'s life-saving blood supply.
