ABOUT KISHORE MALYAVANTHAM
I’m a molecular biologist turned diagnostics innovator with over 20 years of experience translating research into regulated products. As Vice President of R&D (Reagents) at Quanterix, I lead cross‑functional teams developing ultra‑sensitive assays and reagents for precision medicine. To date I have brought more than 50 biomarkers through 510(k) clearances and built multiple IVD devices and LDTs across autoimmunity, infectious disease and neurodegeneration. My mission is to transform early science into scalable solutions that improve patient care and accelerate the adoption of precision diagnostics.Previously, at Trinity Biotech/Inova Diagnostics, I led development of groundbreaking autoimmune assays. Our team created the HEp‑2 ELITE/DFS70 knockout substrate, which revealed clinically significant patterns hidden by DFS70. We also pioneered the Aptiva™ platform, an automated particle‑based multi‑analyte system whose CTD Essential and Autoimmune Myopathy panels analyze multiple autoantibodies in a single run for rapid, accurate diagnosis of diseases such as lupus, systemic sclerosis, Sjögren’s and inflammatory myopathies. These innovations set new benchmarks for throughput and precision and have been adopted globally.My research has contributed to the discovery of novel biomarkers for myositis and Sjögren’s syndrome, and I’ve translated those findings into commercial assays. This blend of scientific insight and product development has enabled me to build pipelines that deliver high‑impact diagnostics.In addition to my role at Quanterix, I oversee R&D for Akoya Biosciences’ spatial biology technology and product portfolio. The PhenoCycler‑Fusion 2.0 system uses molecular barcoding and high‑speed imaging to perform ultrahigh‑plex protein and RNA phenotyping across whole tissue sections at single‑cell resolution. By imaging millions of cells simultaneously, it offers deep multiomic insight into tissue architecture and immune contexture. We’re expanding the reagent portfolio and refining workflows so researchers and clinicians can interrogate the tumor microenvironment with unprecedented speed and scale. Across all these roles, I’m passionate about leading collaborative teams, fostering innovation and operational excellence, and bringing novel diagnostics from concept to clinic. By integrating ultra‑sensitive assays with spatial biology, we can unlock the next generation of precision medicine that bridges tissue biomarkers with liquid biopsies.
