Outlined below are the key job responsibilities. • File monthly, quarterly, and annual federal, state, and local payroll tax returns across multiple tax agencies, ensuring 100% compliance and on-time payments. • Manage over 250 FEIN returns each quarter and serve as the first point of contact for payroll tax notices across the team. • Handle payroll tax notice resolution with federal and state agencies, performing RCA to prevent future occurrences, and communicating findings and solutions to leadership. • Collaborate with agencies to resolve and negotiate payroll penalty notices, frequently securing waivers or reduced fines to minimize company liability. • Manage payroll credits and refunds by proactively identifying solutions, such as reapplication to future liabilities or requesting direct reimbursements. • Create and update withholding, unemployment, and local tax IDs by validating employee home and work addresses to ensure accurate tax setup. • Retrieve and update SUI rates in Workday and ADP by pulling data from state unemployment websites, ensuring accuracy ahead of quarterly filings to prevent under/overpayments. • Prepare and present annual state unemployment expense forecasts to management to support budgeting and strategic financial planning. • Provide monthly high-level summaries to leadership on tax notice outcomes, cost savings achieved, and future prevention strategies.

   As a tax analyst, I am responsible for filing the Federal, State & Local Monthly & quarterly tax returns with state and federal agencies along with the various types of payments. Apart from the payroll filing, I also need to handle the different types of ID creation by validating new employees’ home and work addresses. Work on different types of agency payroll notices and resolve the issue within the turnaround time and also do additional RCA over the notices to figure out the issue and how we mitigate it in the future. Work with state and local agencies on payroll penalty notices and try to waive off the penalty or reduce the penalty. Work on credit notices and try to figure out multiple solutions to get the refund as earliest possible by applying in future payment or sending a letter to the agency. Provide a high level of overview to the supervisor on the notice, how much dollars we have saved every month, and the possible steps we can take in the future to avoid the notices and save some dollars for the company. I am handling more than 250 FEIN returns and also assist another team member on their FEIN notices as I am the first-level contact for payroll notice.
