ABOUT KIRSTY MCCLURE

In 2008 I began my training contract with RA Clement Assc. During my 3 years training I had a varied and diverse portfolio of clients including charities, limited companies, sole traders, partnerships and LLPs. The majority of my time was spent on the Charity and Audit sectors: focusing on charity specific accounting disclosures and accounts preparation, and audit. After completing my ICAS exams in 2011 I transferred to BDO as an audit senior, further increasing my exposure to a variety of clients. In 2012 I moved to Morgan Stanley as part of the Compensation Controller team where my duties included Statutory Account preparation, Tax analysis and reconciliation, and month end bookings in relation to local taxes on deferred compensation plans. This was a diverse role which covers several different accounting jurisdictions (IFRS, UK GAAP, US GAAP, local GAAPs), and involved an in-depth knowledge of IFRS 2 specifically. My role was part of a deployment project from London to Glasgow, which involved the transfer of the entire UK compensation control function. In 2015 I transferred role within Compensation Control to oversee the centralisation of the non-UK EMEA Comp functions in Glasgow, including managing a team of two to ensure accurate monthly Compensation accounting for both our ongoing and transitioning regions. Again, my role involved deploying functions to Glasgow: this time from from Budapest; Milan; Moscow; Paris and Zurich. In late 2015 my role expanded to included managing the compensation accounting for the UK, in addition to the 19 other regions already accounted for in Glasgow. In 2017 I took over the management of the US region in addition to oversight of EMEA, managing a team of 5 to deliver cash compensation accounting for over 50k employees. In 2020 my responsibilities increased, and I now oversee a team of 15 (12 in Glasgow, 3 off shore) covering global cash compensation.
