ABOUT KIRSTEN HIORTDAHL

Kirsten, or Kitty, Hiortdahl is currently the Acting Section Chief for the Air Force & Utah Military Program at Hill AFB for USACE where she manages planning, design and construction for various federal agencies with a $2B+ portfolio across California and Utah military installations. Within USACE she was formerly a Project Manager, and an Assistant/Deputy Resident Engineer at the Utah Resident Office which oversaw ~30 active Military Construction projects at Hill AFB totaling over $800M. Kitty was formerly the Installation Restoration Program Manager at Marine Corp Base Camp Lejeune where she managed CERCLA, RCRA, and munitions sites. She was President of a professional 501 (c)(3) non-profit, Groundwater Professionals of NC (GWPNC) and a Co-Team Lead for the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) 1,4-Dioxane Team. With her role in GWPNC, she was the lead organizer for the PFAS and Other EC conference in Raleigh in April 2019. Kitty has given training and presentations on remediation and emerging contaminants to various groups and organizations. Her other experience includes managing NPL and DoD sites at NC DEQ, environmental consulting, groundwater remedial product R&D, and agricultural research at the USDA. She holds a thesis Master’s of Science from NC State University in Environmental Engineering, and a Bachelors of Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Francis Marion University.
