ABOUT KIRSTEEN MACDONALD
Senior academic developer with 20+ years’ experience in UK higher education, spanning e‑learning and academic practice roles and leading institution‑wide academic development across home and international campuses. I design and lead CPD and credit‑bearing programmes (including PGCHE‑level provision) that support teaching excellence, inclusive and innovative pedagogies, effective use of digital learning and GenAI, and colleague engagement in professional development. I also lead Advance HE‑aligned professional recognition (experiential routes to D1–D4, contributions to PGCHE accreditation at D1 and D2, Deputy TEAL for NTFS and CATE), ensuring parity of access to reward and recognition routes.I work in partnership with faculties and professional services. My practice is informed by a professional doctorate on the role and impact of academic developers, and engagement in external learning and teaching networks (ALDinHE, SRHE, SEDA, Advance HE), with a consistent focus on aligning academic development with institutional priorities, regulatory requirements and enhanced student outcomes.
