About Kirk Whetstone
Dr. Whetstone’s primary clinical focus is the comprehensive non-surgical treatment of spine and joint conditions. His clinic is a first stop for patients with back, neck, joint and soft tissue conditions. His primary focus is to provide a thorough physical examination, timely diagnosis, and a \"whole patient\" approach to musculoskeletal care. Treatments include: ultrasound and fluoroscopic joint and spine procedures, exercise based treatment, referral to manual medicine (massage, physical therapy, chiropractic, OMT, etc), and sometimes medications when appropriate. Dr. Whetstone also works to prevent future injuries, make work space and lifestyle improvements, and provide patient education. Dr. Whetstone has a network of trusted collaborating partners in both spine surgery (orthopedic & neurosurgery) and joint surgery (orthopedic surgery) and will help facilitate best care if needed. He approaches each patient from a person-centered perspective and helps each individual develop a plan of care.Dr. Whetstone also has experience in spine and joint program development, resident and medical student education, and is a regular CME presenter on musculoskeletal topics. Other professional expertise includes: disability evaluation, treatment of injured motorists and workers. He has interest in regenerative medicine (orthobiologics) and new technology to help educate patients on self care and spine and joint topics. Board certified in general PM & R (June 2014) and Pain Medicine (Oct 2014) by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
