About Kirk Olimb

Kirk Olimb graduated summa cum laude from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2016, he was a Mitchell Fellow, won a Burton Award for Excellence in Legal Writing, and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in his No-Fault Insurance class. He was a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, a founding board member of the William Mitchell Inventor Assistance Program, and President of the Fighting Eelpouts Club Hockey Team. Prior to law school, Kirk graduated magna cum laude from Hamline University in 2013 with his Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and Psychology. During his time at Hamline he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Lambda Epsilon Chi (Paralegal Honor Society), and Psi Chi (Psychology Honor Society). He also played four years as a Piper on the Men\'s Varsity Hockey Team, winning a MIAC Championship in 2011 and was named to the MIAC Academic All-Conference Team in 2011, 2012, and 2013 (freshmen are not eligible). Before attending Hamline, he played three years of Junior A hockey in Canada where he was a member of the 2008 SIJHL Champion Dryden Ice Dogs. This came after graduating from Warroad High School in 2006 where in 2005 he was a member of the undefeated Minnesota State Champion Warroad Warriors. Kirk joined McEllistrem Fargione on a part-time basis in January 2015 as a law clerk (“Kirk the clerk”). He has since become an Associate Attorney starting in October 2016. Kirk is becoming heavily involved in the legal community around the twin cities and was recently appointed to serve as the Social Chair of the RCBA New Lawyers Section and Liaison between the New Lawyers Sections of the HCBA and RCBA. He has also served on the Mitchell Hamline Alumni Golf Tournament Committee and the MSBA Barriers to the Bar Taskforce. In addition to his law practice, Kirk also works as an advisor for SmarterHockey, coaches and plays hockey, golfs, and hangs out with his dog (Pokey), cat (Mike), and girlfriend, Amanda (most importantly, of course).
