About Kiran K. P
Driven by a deep passion for nature conservation and sustainable development, I bring over 13 years of experience in project management, specializing in Sustainable Forest Management and technology integration for natural resource and forestry management. As the Regional Director for the USAID and MoEFCC\'s Forest-PLUS 3.0 Program, I lead regional operations, fostering equitable and inclusive development through close collaboration with Forest Departments, government agencies, research institutions, and other key stakeholders. This role has provided me with opportunities to work closely on studies related to ecosystem services baseline, ecosystem services valuation, cost-benefit analysis for eco-restoration, and landscape management plan preparation. I have spearheaded efforts to integrate technology into Sustainable Forest Management, developing and scaling up four technology tools. These Web/Mobile-based MIS/GIS platforms are used for preparing Working Plans, eco-restoration projects, and managing forest-based value chains (NTFP), timber (traceability), and NRM projects, showcasing my expertise in scientific and participatory approaches. My extensive on-ground experience during the Forest-PLUS 2.0 program and working with Watershed Projects (PMKSY-IWMP) in rural areas of Gujarat State has provided me with a profound understanding of watershed management, river rejuvenation, landscape management and restoration, agriculture-based livelihoods, women-led micro-enterprises, community dynamics, and sustainable development. These roles have helped me integrate NRM interventions with government schemes like MGNREGA, SRLM, and the Horticulture Mission, promoting integrated ecosystem development. I hold a Post-Graduation in Forestry Management from the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, where I specialized in Sustainable Forest Management, Conservation and Livelihood, Ecosystem Services-based Forest and Landscape Management, Watershed and Natural Resource Management, and Biodiversity Conservation.
