About Kip Boyle
I help executives manage cyber as a business risk, not just a technical problem. Most cybersecurity advisors talk to CISOs. I work in the gap between CISOs and CFOs, translating technical risk into the business language that drives real decisions. That gap is where budgets stall, boards lose confidence, and breaches turn into crises. I built my approach working with organizations like the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank, Boeing, Visa, and Intuit. Today, my firm Cyber Risk Opportunities applies those lessons to upper mid-market companies: financial services, professional sports, biotech, manufacturing, energy, and legal. We help executives prioritize limited resources to manage unlimited cyber risks. I wrote the book on this.\"Fire Doesn\'t Innovate\" is the playbook for building a cybersecurity program that executives understand, support, and fund. I also co-host the Cyber Risk Management Podcast (200+ episodes) with cybersecurity attorney Jake Bernstein. My expertise is built on three foundations: U.S. Air Force (Officer and Leader): Director of Wide Area Network Security for the F-22 \"Raptor\" program. Leading IT teams in weapons testing taught me what failure looks like when the stakes are real. Stanford Research Institute (Project Leader): Helped Fortune 100 firms solve cybersecurity problems that were 5+ years ahead of the mainstream. No playbook existed. We built one. CISO (Insurance and Finance): As CISO of a major insurance company, I led cybersecurity across a community bank, credit union, and managed service provider. This is where I learned that the real job of a CISO is not technical. It is communication. How I help: For Executives: I help you become a confident cyber risk manager. No jargon. No scare tactics. Just a clear action plan you can explain to your board. For Partners: Lawyers, MSPs, and technology providers use our frameworks to deliver cybersecurity and AI governance assessments to their own clients. Let\'s connect: Ask me about CR-MAP™ (our cyber risk management assessment) or AIR-MAP™ (our AI governance assessment).
