As a Network Engineer supporting 10+ school campuses, I’ve led infrastructure discovery, stabilized services, and enhanced secure connectivity across the district.Key Responsibilities:Campus Switching (HPE Aruba/ProCurve): Operate and optimize access/distribution stacks; implement VLAN segmentation, MSTP admin-edge, LLDP/PoE tuning, and interface diagnostics; standardize switchport profiles and remediate issues.Wireless (Meraki): Design SSIDs; optimize RF/QoS; support WPA2/3 and bridge-mode; resolve auth/DHCP issues using Wireless Health and client analytics.Firewall & Security: Administer FortiGate and Barracuda—VPNs, rule optimization, content filtering, SSL-inspection exceptions, and periodic posture reviews.Voice & Communications: Support Zoom Phone (Yealink) and InformaCast—stabilize PoE/LLDP negotiation, ensure VLAN/multicast reachability, guide reprovisioning to clear “account not registered,” and enforce admin-edge on phone ports; remove/mitigate rogue switches.Core Services (DNS/DHCP/Identity): Maintain scopes/reservations; prevent pool exhaustion (e.g, scope expansion and 8-hour leases); sustain Google Workspace, Apple School Manager, and Zoom FQDN records; assist PaperCut scanning workflows.ISP & Circuit Cutovers: Coordinate after-hours cutovers with Comcast and CherryRoad; schedule windows, validate routing/failover, migrate tunnels/policies, and produce change plans/topology docs (Visio/Packet Tracer).Monitoring & Incident Response: Use Meraki Dashboard, Auvik, and Barracuda alerts; analyze STP/PoE logs and LLDP neighbors; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions across campuses.Automation & Scripting: Build Python tooling—Meraki Dashboard API + Netmiko/Paramiko—for bulk config, LLDP/PoE audits, report exports, and standardized switchport enforcement.
