Co-operative education provides students with the opportunity to take what you are learning in the classroom and practice those skills in a real life work situation for four to eight months with one specific employer or two different employers. All majors within the business school can participate as well as MBA students. For the 2021 intake we have 115 students currently working and anticipate 160 students looking for an work placement starting January 2022. Since starting this position I have assisted/achieved:• Achieve an 22.5% increase in secured work placements from year prior• Increased attendance by 75% that resulted in the largest Co-op Networking Open House to date• Improved 2nd year applications by 50% over previous year• Assisted in the interview process of 175 students (46% increase); admitting 100 students in Feb 2015 (11% increase)• Developed a display board to show case the Co-op Students achievements as well as participating employers• Cold called over 100 new employers to invite to Open House and to give information regarding the Co-op Program• Taught and facilitated workshops that included up to 100 students on a variety of personal development related themes• Consulted with numerous undergraduates/graduates and alumni on resume/cover letter and advice regarding career opportunities and advancement
