About Kim Olson

Kim Olson is an award-winning international dance artis who\'s work for stage, site-specific, installation and screendance has been featured at festivals and venues in: Scotland, England, Germany, Japan, China, Chile, Uruguay, Trinidad, Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil, Albania, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Spain, Pakistan, Canada, Australia, and the US. Collaborative screendance work has been presented globally in conjunction with San Souci Festival of Dance Cinema and WECreate Productions, among others. A commissioned artist, teacher, and artist-in-residence around the world, she has served her own community as guest faculty at Univ. of Colorado, Boulder, RRCC, Naropa Univ. and Aesthetic Institute, also on the board of SWEET EDGE, Mariposa Collective, and in an advisory capacity for Colorado Creative Industries. Olson is a member of the International Dance Council, official partner of UNESCO, the UN organization promoting cooperation to foster world peace. Olson received a Bachelor of Fine Arts cum laude with honors, from The Ohio State University. In New York City, she performed and toured internationally with the Stephen Petronio Company, and in the US with Randy Warshaw Dance Company, Pam Tanowitz 024, and Donna Uchizono. She has received support from the National Endowment for the Arts and numerous agencies in the US, received nominations at Monaco Dance Forum Nijinsky Awards, has 2x been presented at international tanzmesse nrw, and 2x received the ATLAS Innovator Award and Residency.*Commissions,Collaborations Open to create work for stage, environmental/ installation, and community.    EDGE is an evolving dance + performance project designed to support the explorations, creative process and productions visioned and directed by ​Choreographer Kim Olson. Works are artistically diverse and collaborative in nature with the company of performers and other artists, as well as with communities and environments. On any given project, the company functions as think tank, muse and vehicle for each performer to bring unique and shared experiences to the conceptual structure and context.
