About Kimia Sobhani

As the Medical Director of the Core Laboratories at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, I oversee the clinical and scientific operations of four key laboratory areas: Core, Cancer Center, Emergency Department, and Hematology/Oncology. I have more than 13 years of experience in providing clinical and scientific oversight of assay and IVD selection, validation, and implementation. As such, I\'m experienced with CLIA and CAP regulations and standards for clinical laboratory operations including CLSI and other best practice guidelines. I also conduct clinically oriented research in several areas of laboratory diagnostics including test performance, clinical utility of new biomarkers and methods, serology and vaccine response, and patient-centered self sampling.In addition to my clinical and research responsibilities, I serve as a mentor, educator, and consultant in the clinical chemistry and medical diagnostics. I teach pathology residents, deliver lectures for continuing medical education, and co-chair a committee on clinical test utilization. I have published more than 30 peer reviewed articles on various topics in clinical chemistry, toxicology, immunology, and proteomics. I have also collaborated with and consulted for medical device and IVD companies on studies validating their products and post-market surveillance. As such, I\'m familiar with FDA and GCLP guidelines for IVD clinical trials. My mission is to expand clinician and patient access to laboratory testing and to advance the science and practice of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine.

   Serve as a consultant vetting IVD and clinical lab related startups applying to the CS accelerator and mentor/champion to successful startups in this space. I continue to work with startups both on clinical trials and business strategy as well as linking them to synergistic companies and potential investors in their space.
