I graduated from The University of Tampa (a university known for their melting pot of different cultures). The commencement speech at graduation was delivered by Ariel Acosta-Rubio, a class of 1984 alumni and Co-Founder/President and CEO of Churromania. In his closing statement he used the quote above from Sarah Ban Breathnach. Mr. Acosta-Rubio’s speech was incredibly inspiring as he was the first Hispanic international graduate commencement speaker in 138 years! Mr. Acosta-Rubio outlined his speech with three lessons that were impactful during my job search and have carried on during my first job post undergraduate school: Failure – You will fail and likely hit rock bottom (once or over and over). The great thing about failing is that you LEARN. Dream and visualize the future. Create your own path. Seek balance. Choose wisely the people that you choose to share your life with.During my years at The University of Tampa I was blessed with the good fortune of being exposed to multiple international experiences in Venezuela and Ghana. In addition to English I am fluent in Spanish, Cantonese and Mandarin. I am a member of the Beta Alpha Psi Financial Information Honor Society and was awarded the Tampa Transfer Merit Scholarship. I am often described as a confident leader and entrepreneur with a conviction for social responsibility. While at UT I identified the need of an Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity presence, the oldest and largest professional business fraternity to date. I was drawn to the fraternity based upon the vision to promote education and mentorship to future business leaders and liaised with university leadership on organizational formation, by law development and campus recruiting.
