Trade credit insurance (TCI) safeguards businesses from the risk of non-payment due to various factors, such as insolvency, bankruptcy, political instability, or protracted default (late payments). Even if customers default on payments, the insured company can recover a significant portion of the outstanding debt. Cash flow is protected. This protection can be crucial, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) heavily reliant on a few key customers. TCI reduces the fear of non-payment and helps businesses take calculated risks to grow their sales, enabling them to extend credit to new customers or enter new markets with more confidence. TCI policies can be tailored to meet the specific needs of a business. They may cover domestic or international trade, single or multiple buyers, or specific industries. Policies can also include additional services, such as credit monitoring, collection services, and legal support in case of defaults.Premiums are usually a percentage of the insured company\'s total sales or outstanding accounts receivable. The premium rates depend on factors such as the industry, the creditworthiness of customers, and the level of coverage desired.TCI may not cover all types of losses, such as losses due to contractual disputes or general economic downturns. Insurers may also have exclusions and limitations based on specific circumstances, such as pre-existing customer debts or high-risk industries.NFP is the 5th largest benefits broker by global revenue, 5th best place to work in insurance and 6th largest US-based privately owned broker (Business Insurance); 9th commercial lines agency by P&C commercial lines revenue and 10th largest property and casualty agency (Insurance Journal); and 12th largest global insurance broker (Best’s Review).

ABOUT KIMBERLY KELLY

Kimberly began her insurance career managing claim litigation for State Farm Insurance Companies. But once she was introduced to trade credit insurance, she was hooked. In 2013 she was in a support role at a local trade credit insurance firm, and quickly worked her way to a senior account management position at an international brokerage. In 2021, she launched her own firm which she ultimately transitioned to NFP. She has an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Her education and well-rounded experience make her uniquely qualified to structure and negotiate customized programs that fit her client’s time and budget requirements. She loves the opportunity to make a real difference for her clients, providing guidance on products and procedures which create efficiency and steady cash flow. You may be surprised to know. A well-managed trade credit policy can pay for itself, even when claim-free. Unlike other insurance policies which only respond when a claim is presented, a trade credit policy can:* Support risk-free credit sales growth, both export and domestic.* Augment your borrowing base.* Transfer the task of credit management partially or even entirely to the carrier.* Eliminate the expense of credit reports and collection fees * Strengthen financial statements. If I can help you leverage a trade credit insurance policy, please do not hesitate to contact me: TESTIMONIALS:\"We\'ve had a very positive experience with our direct sell broker but we were curious to see if competing trade credit insurance carriers could offer more coverage at a lower premium. We were shocked when Kimberly presented an offer which will save us $55,300 annually and meet our coverage requirements. Kimberly crushed this fact finding exercise. She worked hard to provide us with competitive offers and gave us some savvy insights. Very glad to have bumped into her on LinkedIn!\"- Credit Manager, Wholesaler “Kimberly helped my company reduce our premium by while also increasing the benefits of our coverage. She also provided an immense amount of insight as we worked through the details and negotiations with multiple trade credit providers. One would be hard pressed to find a more helpful and hardworking advocate in the trade credit industry.” - Director of Credit & Collections, wholesale trade industry
