ABOUT KIMBERLY SOUFFRONT
I am Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Core Faculty of the Institute for Health Equity Research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and Associate Director of the Center for Nursing Research & Innovation for the Mount Sinai Health System. I am an emergency trained Nurse Practitioner, and my research aims to achieve health equity and eliminate disparities related to hypertension health outcomes in emergency department patients with asymptomatic hypertension. I have been supported as Principal Investigator by the National Institutes of Health and have received funding from the Emergency Medicine Foundation, Emergency Nurses Association, and other private foundations. I completed my PhD and Post-Doctoral Fellowship at New York University prior to joining the faculty at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. I mentor nurses (undergraduate, graduate/doctoral) across the Mount Sinai Health System, medical students, and emergency medicine residents on research methodology. I am currently a Betty Irene Moore Fellow for Nurse Leaders and Innovators and Editor in Chief for a newly launched journal, Practical Implementation of Nursing Science (PINS).
