A background that includes for profit and nonprofit leadership posts. In 2010, Simmons established the Detroit River Project Organization, which has been recognized for numerous national and international initiatives including the core project of designation of the Historic Detroit River as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.An UGRR and Mayflower descendant, Simmons’ family traces its heritage over 400 years, and as 3rd GGranddaughter of Caroline Quarlls and husband, Allen Watkins,belongs to a family that’s been in the Detroit Region for over 185 years. Ms. Simmons’ program “Caroline Quarlls, A Family Legacy of Freedom” was awarded Ntl Partner status in 2005, with the National Park Service UGRR Network to Freedom. She\'s been profiled in the media locally, nationally and internationally and lectured notably:**Guest Panelist Wilson Center -Canada Institute for Embassy of Canada in Sept 2021 in honor of International UGRR Month**Keynote Speaker Black History Month - U.S. Embassy at Pakistan for U S.
