ABOUT KIMBERLEY WADE

I am a cognitive psychologist at the University of Warwick, UK. Much of my research lies at the intersection of psychology and criminal law (e.g, investigative interviewing, confession evidence, deception detection, identification parades/lineups, witness evidence). My longest running line of work has focused on memory, in particular, how and why people might come to believe in and remember entire events or aspects of events that never happened. My research has theoretical implications for how we understand memory and informs professionals working in legal or clinical contexts. You can view my publications here or on Google Scholar.From 20••••23, I served as the Executive Director of the international Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition (SARMAC, In 2014, along with colleagues in Warwick Law School and Warwick Business School, I co-founded Warwick University\'s Centre for Operational Police Research (COPR, https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/cross_fac/copr/). I served as COPR\'s Deputy Director for 5 years, and since 2019 I have served as Co-Director alongside Prof Jackie Hodgson (Warwick Law School). COPR is an interdisciplinary network that unites over 30 researchers from 9 academic departments at Warwick University. Our aim is to conduct police-related research that is both intellectually innovative and has clear policy and practice implications within policing. I served as an Associate Editor at the journal, Legal & Criminological Psychology, from 20••••20 and I currently serve on 5 journal editorial boards. I am a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science. I welcome applications from first-rate graduate students wishing to pursue postgraduate research degrees in any area of applied memory and cognition. There are funding opportunities for PhD studies in the UK, but the funding landscape is fairly complex. Home/EU students may be funded by Research Councils (there are currently 7 government-funded councils that offer funding support for postgraduates) or funds provided by the University/Department. International students may wish to apply for the Warwick Chancellors’ International Scholarship scheme. Note that funding application deadlines tend to fall in Jan/Feb each year for a Sept start.
