ABOUT KIM SIMMONDS
A motivated leader with over 30 years of experience in the railway industry. I started my career at CN Railway, and I will retire from CN. I have had the opportunity over the years to enjoy a varied mix of responsibilities at CN. I was hired as an engineer in telecommunications; and built the first generation of communications rooms across Canada. While in the role of Manager Fibre Optics, I oversaw the installation of over miles of fibre optic cables across Canada and the US. Shifting gears, I moved to Operations, where I led engineering installation teams in Track maintenance Signals and Communications, Bridges and Structures for Eastern Canada. I then had the opportunity to move into the Information Technology team. where I have led several groups including our Service Desk, Telecommunications, IT Operations and now the Application Portfolio Management group. I have held qualifications as a Car Mechanic and Train Conductor. So why CN for 30+ years? Because no where else could I have had changes and opportunities in my career like I have these past 30 years.
