About Kim McDonough

I am one of the original members of the profession that came in through what I call the back door. While studying Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture at Auburn University, I was given a copy of Ian McHarg’s book \"Design With Nature\". I was completely captured by the concept of the landscape of nature dictating the form of design. That book eventually lead me to pursue a professional Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture which, in turn, brought me into GIS. I still believe that coming into GIS from what a Human Resources person would call a “related field” has given me strengths in utilizing GIS that I would not have had if I had studied geography alone.
