About Kim Hurd

With 13 years of continued sobriety from drug and alcohol addiction, I am passionate about helping individuals and families find freedom as an ARISE Interventionist and Recovery Coach. I am the Coordinator for the Mentorship Program at Connections Counseling, which provides peer supports to individual clients and groups, supporting Intensive Outpatient Services and hosting weekly sober events. In addition I co-facilitate Intensive Outpatient Groups for substance abuse treatment providing interactive group therapy, mindfulness activities, processing, and psychoeducation.

   Responsible for developing and enhancing the Mentorship Program with a particular emphasis on health and wellness. Manage mentor nominations and contracts, co-facilitate support groups, assign clients to mentors, organize and promote weekly sober events. Respond to community requests for outreach and organize groups or individual mentors to attend. As MARI Coordinator I manage the Madison Addiction Recovery Initiative pre-arrest opioid diversion program with Madison Police Department to include phone screen, assessment, referral and case management. Assign, train and supervise recovery coaches to MARI participants. Participate in weekly outreach as a recovery coach/interventionist with Madison Police Department to non-responsive participants. Facilitate Recovery Coach Trainings and supervsion and am a Certified ARISE Interventionist.
