Responsible for the reconceptualisation, redesign and execution of the Leadership Development Programme (LDP) within the Southampton Business School MBA.At the heart of any MBA programme should be the development of personal, leadership and management skills. The Southampton Business School MBA places great importance on the growth of the individual not just academically, but in practice and personally. The world has changed - and continues to change - at an unprecedented rate. The need for future leaders and team members to be able to adapt to change, to be able to lead across multiple cultures, nationalities and organisational structures, and to be able to cope with the stresses that this places on them and their staff has never been greater. It is our belief that an MBA should equip students with the understanding or themselves, of groups and teams, and of leadership styles that allows them to bring significant value to their employers and employees in the future.With this in mind, the LDP explores a range of personal and leadership development topics over the duration of the entire MBA programme, seeking to create better leaders for the changing world.

ABOUT KIERAN LEES
Having been a business leader for many years, and involved in international rugby for a short while, I decided in 2016 to undertake an applied business research doctorate (DBA), as I was intrigued by a concept called TEAMSHIP. I wanted to be an expert in something that might help me to bring real value to leaders and teams striving for high performance.I did my research in high performance sport - specifically international rugby - where I examined how groups of apparently like-minded people can come together from diverse backgrounds, and be moulded into a highly-skilled and motivated unit, able to exceed any reasonable expectations.My research findings challenge quite a lot of accepted theory regarding teams and leadership, especially in areas such as team cohesion, shared purpose, self-determined motivation and alignment, and group stage development (think Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing). Over the last four years I\'ve been working with the University of Southampton Business School MBA programme. I\'ve designed, led and taught a comprehensive Leadership Development Programme, focused on the principles from my research. The results have been exceptional.I have now launched a new business - Kielder Consulting Limited - to take these unique and highly practical experiences and studies to commercial clients. Kielder brings a significant range of talent from academia, business, and high performance sport to train and develop exceptional teams and leaders.
