ABOUT KIERAN BAKER

With a strong academic background in Statistics, I am a thoughtful and rigorous data scientist, keen on using methodology in innovative ways to generate business value. I have experience with methods across the statistical and ML spectrum. My PhD focused on various aspects, largely focussing on bringing together approaches from time series, functional data analysis and signal processing to develop new methodology. This was all applied within a complex data setting within the medical domain.I also have a strong background in NLP, and am comfortable with fine-tuning state-of-the-art transformer models, the latest prompt-engineering approaches. I have worked with these in the context of a data-rich language network which represents the Operational Risk landscape across large financial institutions.Clear, audience-specific communication is one of my defining strengths. Whether I’m speaking technically with fellow data scientists, briefing C-suite executives, educating keen university students or sharing my passion for data with curious A-level students, I translate complex ideas into concise, engaging narratives that resonate with each listener.
