ABOUT KIERA EDWARDS

Currently serving as the Director of Programs and Grants Management at the Mathematical Association of America. In my role, I work with off-site project managers and principal investigators to develop proposals; review and approve requisitions and expenditures; produce budget forecasts; and coordinate communications with internal departments as well as activities related to grants post-award management. I oversee all sponsored programs and serve as the Co-Principal Investigator for select programs, ensuring that they remain on target for meeting approved goals, remain aligned with the organization\'s strategic plan, and stay on track with their financials. I also provide insight on measuring impact and identifying project evaluators. In addition, I work with auditors, inspectors, program sponsor representatives, and program staff at universities, institutes, and other organizations. On average, I manage a research portfolio of 10 to 15 off-site programs—totaling approximately $10M in revenue—that encourage the pursuit of mathematics education among groups who are traditionally underrepresented in the field; transform student learning through evidence-based teaching strategies; and prepare students to meet the demands of a data-driven workplace. My work strives to facilitate discussion and collaboration across our entire research portfolio and support the dissemination of ideas and best practices to a broader audience.
