About Kiarra Womack

I bring awareness to and mitigate the negative impact of disparities in the college access and success of students. I am lucky enough to do this in my career as a mentor, advocate, and changemaker serving students.Supporting students through scholarships and programming has propelled my personal mission to reduce academic achievement gaps amongst minority students. In doing such education-focused work, I am a bridge to lessening social disparities and non-sustainable practices in underserved communities.

1. Senior Scholarships Manager

   Scholarship Administration and Correspondence• Serve as the primary point of contact for 170 scholarship applicants and recipients• Maintain and update scholarship application, renewal application, and review• Coordinate selection committee and their review processes• Collect and carefully consider financial aid award packages for incoming and renewing students each year for the purposes of award calculation.• Negotiate with university financial aid officials to ensure the most beneficial use of scholarship dollarsCommunity Outreach• Represent the Selby Foundation in education-focused, community settings (e.g, College Fairs, scholarship-focused events organized by youth-serving organizations, and meetings of relevant coalitions, such as the Local College Access Network)• Develop working relationships with Scholarship Managers of local funders, including the coordination of quarterly meet-ups for knowledge-sharing and relationship-building Scholar Support• Build working relationships with students—providing support, resources, and referrals to students as needed.• Coordinate Selby Scholar Reception event for incoming students, identify and evaluate opportunities to improve program and student outcomes through surveys, data analysis, and relevant professional publications/webinars/workshops.• Coordinate Selby Scholar Mentor Program to provide students with specialized knowledge of their chosen career path.• Manage and Track Student Intern Program• Work with auditors to compile all necessary documentation each fiscal yearInternal Reporting and Information Management• Prepare customized scholarship summary reports for CEO/President and/or Board• Maintain all record-keeping systems of scholarships (both electronic and physical)• Record and budget management tracking: application > decision > paymentSpecial Projects•Provide training and research on scholarship topics• Work with funders and agencies to strengthen non-profit services and procedures
