   Kiara C. Jones is an acclaimed filmmaker known for championing diverse, human-centered stories. The daughter of a Bronx-Brooklyn love story, she brings compassion, vision, and precision to every project—whether fiction or nonfiction. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, she earned her MFA in filmmaking from NYU Tisch, where she honed her voice alongside a new generation of cinematic storytellers.Her directorial debut, Christmas Wedding Baby, won the Directors Guild of America Grand Jury Award and was distributed on Netflix and BET. She co-wrote a TriBeCa-winning short with an Academy Award–winning screenwriter and has written for major studios. As a producer, her credits include She’s Lost Control (SXSW, Berlinale), nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, and Premature (Sundance, Hulu), which earned the Someone to Watch Award.Her documentary A Woman on the Outside premiered at SXSW, won Best Documentary at the American Black Film Festival, and aired on PBS in 2024. She also contributed to A&E’s The First 48 as a producer, enhancing context and representation.A NYSCA/NYFA Fellow, BRIO Award recipient, and WGA East Screenwriting Fellow, Kiara continues to create stories that amplify underrepresented voices and inspire social change.
