As State Consultant – Gender & PCPNDT, I lead technical, legal, and programmatic initiatives to strengthen the public health sector’s response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and ensure robust implementation of the PCPNDT Act in Madhya Pradesh. I work at the intersection of gender equity, reproductive rights, and legal compliance, driving multi-sectoral collaboration to address harmful practices such as gender-biased sex selection and child marriage.Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Advise the Department of Public Health & Family Welfare (DoPHFW) on policy implementation, legal compliance, and regulatory processes under the PCPNDT Act, ensuring evidence-based interventions and accountability.Cross-Sector Coordination: Facilitate collaboration between Health, Women & Child Development, Law, Judiciary, and Police to ensure survivor-centric medico-legal and psychosocial support systems.Capacity Building: Design and deliver state-wide training for medical officers, nurses, and frontline workers on comprehensive GBV response, medico-legal care, and survivor referral pathways.Programme Management: Lead planning, monitoring, and evaluation of GBV and PCPNDT initiatives, ensuring alignment with UNFPA’s strategic objectives and SDG targets.Quality Assurance: Oversee compliance of district and civil hospitals with GBV protocols, develop SOPs, job aids, and quality assessment checklists, and address service delivery gaps.Evidence & Advocacy: Utilize data analysis, HMIS integration, and field monitoring to identify trends, document best practices, and inform state-level policy advocacy.
