The SIV is awarded to Iraqis and Afghans who directly served alongside the US Forces overseas for more than 2 years. Their service puts them and their families in tremendous dangers in their home countries. The purpose of this program is to honor their service and sacrifice, to assist in their transition in civilian life in the United States, and to raise general awareness about the work SIVs & Allies have done to us all.
