At InstaDeep, I work on designing and delivering scalable AI and reinforcement learning systems for complex real-world problems, with a strong focus on engineering quality and product impact.I’ve been a core contributor to our long-term collaboration with Deutsche Bahn, where I helped build the full RL pipeline behind the Capacity & Traffic Management System (CTMS). My work includes defining state–action–reward structures, scaling training with Ray from tens to hundreds of environments, integrating the optimizer into the CTMS interface, and shaping key product features such as the fixed-block simulation. I also introduced multi-objective optimization and graph-based models to improve interpretability, performance, and alignment with operational goals.Beyond DB, I contributed to the BioNTech IVAC project, which focuses on improving the next generation of individualized mRNA cancer vaccines. The goal of the project is to understand the rules that govern mRNA stability, protein expression, and immunogenicity so we can better optimize patient-specific vaccine sequences.My role was to bring structure and engineering clarity to a fast-moving research environment. I refactored the core codebase into a modular and testable framework, built reproducible pipelines for data processing and experimentation, and improved documentation to make collaboration between engineers and bioinformaticians smoother. I enjoy building clean, maintainable systems: automated pipelines, reproducible evaluation setups, and tools that make experimentation faster and more reliable. I also spend a significant part of my time mentoring interns and engineers, running knowledge-sharing sessions, and collaborating with partners and cross-functional teams.Earlier work includes exploring RL methods for routing problems (TSP, CVRP, TSPTW), developing environment simulators from scratch, and contributing to research on hybrid evolutionary algorithms for VRP.
