About Khaled W. Salam
Prior to joining HDR as a water/wastewater EIT, I worked on projects focused on understanding aerobic granular sludge technology at Garmerwolde in the Netherlands, studying the fate of trace organic contaminants at Silverdale in Kitsap County, exploring startup strategies for anaerobic digesters in Saudi Arabia, and developing assays for monitoring marine recreational water quality in Lebanon.I received a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering (2016) from the University of Washington. In my studies, I learned the principles of designing physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes, modeling contaminants’ fates in natural and engineering systems, and planning water collection and distribution systems. I also received a Master of Science in Environmental Technology (2011) and a Bachelor of Science in Biology (2008) from the American University of Beirut.I am looking forward to applying my expertise and skills to HDR treatment projects that are targeted at controlling contaminants, recovering resources, improving environmental and public health, and reducing energy footprint. Ultimately, I aim to contribute to improving the livelihood of communities, which is important to me. Skilled in simulation and modeling (BioWin, EPA SWMM, Visual MINTEQ, and Kintecus), statistical computing and graphics (R, Python), and sequencing data analysis (ARB) software Proficient in English and Arabic (fluent), French (intermediate), and Dutch (basic)
