ABOUT KHADEJAH SCOTT ARTIS
Khadejah Artis has been passionate about education since childhood and is deeply committed to improving educational outcomes for Black and Brown students. She is a Literacy Coach in Baltimore City Schools, leading structured and disciplinary literacy initiatives that help students access rigorous content and overcome reading and writing challenges across secondary subject areas.In her work, Khadejah supports teachers in embedding research-based literacy practices aligned to the demands of each discipline—how students read, write, speak, and think across contexts. She integrates instructional technology and data analysis to strengthen all aspects of skilled reading and academic language development: decoding, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and written expression.Previously, Khadejah served for over a decade as a Special Education Teacher, Reading Interventionist, and Case Manager with DC Public Schools. She leveraged Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to design inclusive instruction for Multilingual Learners and students with disabilities. Grounded in authentic, data-driven assessment, her work personalizes learning pathways and drives measurable growth for both students and educators.
