ABOUT KAREEM GONGORA
Kareem Gongora is an executive communications and public affairs professional with a career rooted in public service, community impact, and institutional leadership. He has led strategic communications initiatives across local government and nonprofit sectors, with a focus on reaching historically underserved communities and translating complex public programs into accessible, actionable information.Early in his career, Kareem worked directly within hard-to-reach communities coordinating after-school programs for at-risk youth, developing asset-building and tax credit awareness campaigns, and overseeing self-sufficiency grants and contracts designed to support working families. He later served in senior communications roles for the County of Riverside Treasurer-Tax Collector, where he led department-wide communications, public education campaigns, and stakeholder engagement efforts. In this capacity, Kareem helped design and support the launch of the County’s financial literacy initiative, expanding access to financial education resources and strengthening public trust in county financial services.Kareem’s leadership and service have been widely recognized. In 2014, he was named “Young Leader of the Year” by the Inland Empire Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and was honored as a “30 Under 30” recipient in 2017 by Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes. In 2018, he was appointed by the Speaker of the California Assembly to the California State Bar Committee of Bar Examiners, where he helps oversee administration of the California Bar Examination, the First-Year Law Students’ Examination, and regulatory oversight of the state’s accredited, registered, and unaccredited law schools.Kareem holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Riverside, and a Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Administration at California Baptist University. He serves as Director of Communications and Public Information for the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside, and is an appointed member of the San Bernardino County Planning Commission and the South Coast Air Quality Management District Environmental Justice Advisory Group.
