ABOUT KERRY MIKELI

I am a software developer who has moved into being a Business Analyst which is where I have found my niche. As a Business Analyst I can use my attention to detail, desire to learn, and communication skills to gather requirements from users. I can then use my development background to help me ensure that I provide all the required information to developers to ensure that the final product meets the clients’ requirements.Since being at Joules I have helped implement a product lifecycle management system. I joined this project as it was about to go through testing. I had to ask questions to be able to understand the system quickly. I also worked with testers and developers to ensure the test plan covered all requirements. I also held a gathering requirements workshop with the head of retail to understand their requirements for order to store and some difficulties they were dealing with promotion pricing. At James and James, I started in the Business Analyst role as the business was moving to a larger premises. This meant that my first project as a BA was to implement pick tower technology into the system. This meant working with warehouse managers, developers, and testers to understand what changes were needed and how technically the changes could be implemented. As part of this, I broke the project down into smaller deliverable work packages that could be delivered in an agile way.As Mediahawk expanded, I went from software developer to Development Manager. This was the first insight I had into the role of a Business Analyst. I had the knowledge of what it took to develop new features, I understood the system and was able to use my communication skills to speak to clients to understand their challenges. I was able to develop solutions, prioritise them into a roadmap, and break them down for developers. Throughout development I kept the client updated on progress and provided a demo on completion.Throughout my career, I have developed the following skills:Attention to Detail | Requirement Gathering | Process Improvements | Process Flows | User Stories | Acceptance Criteria | Data Interrogation using SQL | Testing | Documentation | Agile ceremonies | Waterfall | Jira | Azure DevOps | Software Development Lifecyle | Raising Bugs | Workshops | Product Demos | User Training
