As a Clinical Counselor within the Navy’s Family Advocacy Program (FAP), I provide assessment, treatment, and case management services to active-duty service members and their families impacted by domestic abuse, child abuse, and other family-related stressors. My role is rooted in promoting safety, strengthening family resilience, and supporting mission readiness through high-quality, evidence-based clinical care.Key Responsibilities:•Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and risk evaluations for individuals and families experiencing domestic or child abuse.Provide evidence-based individual, couples, and family therapy using modalities such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed approaches.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including command leadership, law enforcement, legal, and medical staff to ensure coordinated care and victim safety.Facilitate prevention and psychoeducational services on topics such as anger management, parenting, and healthy relationships.Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with DOD and Navy regulations.Support the Incident Determination Committee (IDC) and Clinical Case Staff Meetings (CCSM) through clinical input and case presentations.Engage in continuous professional development and training to remain current on best practices and evolving policies related to military family advocacy.Impact:My work supports the Navy’s broader mission by enhancing the wellbeing of service members and their families, preventing family violence, and promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and resilience.
