Leading and coordinating all aspects of marine, technical and maintenance support for NOC-operated ships supporting worldwide oceanographic science. Including oversight of operational and strategic planning, planning, maintenance, compliance /certification, documentation and crew management logistics and HR. Resolving operational issues at the technical and senior management level, including risk notification to the NOC stakeholders and programme, by providing 24/7 shore-based support. Delivering long-term strategy and proactive resolution to the emergent defects, management of refit and contracts/agreements to ensure efficiency and reliability of suppliers. Managing the long-term budgetary forecasts and technical budget management to ensure commercial compatibility with similar businesses and receive value for money from suppliers. Ensuring equipment maintenance by monitoring that they are operated and maintained, always satisfying all minimum safety and compliance standards and monitoring the shipping operations, Responsible for managing seagoing engineering staff and the building, shipyard, OEM, supplier and contract relations, protecting NOC interest. Supporting the Head of Research Ship Operations concerning activities and procedures to comply with Flag, Class, ISM and other applicable international and national codes and regulations. Monitoring the planned preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance of all the vessels, scheduling of inspections, and routine maintenance ensure continued compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards. Leading the delivery of various special projects such as refits and major periodic vessel overhauls, including formulating dry-docking specifications planning, resource management, stakeholder liaison and progress/quality monitoring Managing the fleet budget, operational resources and stakeholders to ensure maximum operating efficiency.
