ABOUT KEVIN VINES

Experienced Unified Communications Architect with primary focus on Cisco Unified Communications Suite. My 17+ years at BlackBerry has given me the opportunity to work with multiple business units and both internal and external customers to develop and deliver advanced and secure Unified Communications applications and services. I have advanced knowledge and experience in the below products, technologies, and protocols- SIP as implemented by various vendors and service providers including Cisco, Microsoft, Bell Canada, Verizon, etc- Secure voice implementation (PKI, SIP over TLS, SIPS, sRTP, WebRTC)- Cisco Unified Communications Suite of products (CUCM, CUCM SME, IM & Presence, Unity Connections) and IOS voice gateways and CUBE- Cisco WebEx Calling, Local Gateways- VCS-Expressway for Mobile and Remote Access, Business to Business video, and Webex Edge Audio - Cisco UCS and VMWare ESXi, vSphere- BlackBerry AtHoc Critical Events Management- BlackBerry SecuSuite Secure Voice products- STIR/SHAKEN framework - Various other L3-L5 communications protocols such as SCCP, MGCP, H323, RTP. In addition to the technical areas listed above, I am well versed and keep informed on regulatory changes and service provider practices and policies around robocall mitigation and Caller ID authentication, Call Branding, and Rich Call Data. I have also frequently been tapped to provide pre and post-sales engineering, professional services, and work closely with product management for several BlackBerry products and services. As a cost-conscious self-starter and DIY afficionado, I have created and continue to develop and improve my own Session Border Controller based on FreeSWITCH that is now deployed in several BlackBerry Secure Communications services.
