About Kevin Syphard
With more than 25 years of experience focused in the refining, petrochemical, specialty chemical, and renewables industries, I’ve been involved in all phases of engineering projects from opportunity identification, technology transfer and scope development, through detailed design and construction. Currently at Burns & McDonnell, I work with petrochemical and chemical companies to deliver safe, innovative and cost-effective services that exceed their expectations.Decades of experience give our teams a deep understanding of the chemical process industry. Our experience ranges from laboratory data analysis for commercial facility scale-up to design and construction of complex petrochemical facilities. My background includes serving in process and technology leadership roles, managing process engineering teams across the U.S, Canada and Mexico, as well as directing business development strategies for the customers I serve in the process industries. I led projects across a range of industries including refining, petrochemical, specialty chemicals, pulp and paper, power, and renewable energy. My process engineering experience includes leadership roles on a diverse collection of projects in ethylene crackers, alpha-olefins, polypropylene, propylene oxide / styrene monomer (PO/SM), methacrylates, chlor-alkali, lithium carbonate, iron oxide pigments, renewable diesel, renewable energy, biofuels, distillate hydrocrackers and hydrotreaters, flare and fuel gas units, cogeneration, and all associated utility units. This experience is spread across development of first-of-kind process units and conceptual studies, process configuration, engineering, and construction support.When I’m not working, I am an avid volleyball player and coach, and enjoy golf, cycling, and cooking.
