ABOUT KEVIN BAXTER
Through my leadership post at NCSSM, I carry executive-level responsibility for administration and oversight of the NCSSM-Morganton campus and leadership for public affairs and communications across the institution.My career has largely centered on Honors education – first at the University of Maryland and then at East Carolina University – where I designed, built, and grew special programs and communities for talented scholars. This work led me to my current role at NCSSM where since 2017 I have led the development and opening of the newest campus of the UNC System at NCSSM-Morganton.I am also proud to be deeply engaged in Burke County and throughout Western North Carolina. A 2022 graduate of Leadership North Carolina, my current service roles include serving as a board member with UNC Health Blue Ridge, the WNC Bridge Foundation, and the YMCA of Catawba Valley, and serving on the steering team for the Industrial Commons Innovation Campus, the Work in Burke initiative, and the Appalachian State University Hickory Campus Advisory Council. My family and I have established roots in Morganton and are thrilled to be part of such a diverse and resilient community in the foothills of WNC.
